Detroit — More attention to and investment in Detroit's neighborhoods. Less crime. Affordable housing. Transparency in government.

As Detroit voters head to the polls to elect the city's first new mayor in more than a decade on Nov. 4, The Detroit News asked residents of all walks of life what issues they want to see prioritized by the next mayor, who will be replacing three-term Mayor Mike Duggan, as well as what qualities they want in the new leader.

In interviews with block club presidents, business owners, nonprofit leaders and everyday Detroiters, many likely voters said they wanted similar things. Creating "prosperity for all" and focusing on city neighborhoods were among the themes several Detroiters touched on.
