SHREVEPORT, LA (KTAL/KMSS) — History was made last Friday in Byrd's 49-40 win over Benton. Yellowjackets wing back Christian Maxie accounted for 42 of Byrd's 49 points which put him in the record books.
"Beginning of my freshman year I would like never like thought about breaking the school record but like, at the time it was just like dang, I got my name like in history books forever," Maxie said.
In 121 years of Byrd football, Christian Maxie accomplished something that's never been done. The junior running back scored six touchdowns.
"I had like four touchdowns and I was like dang, this is like a really good game because like I could never get like three touchdowns and then after that fifth touchdown I was like, what is the school record?," Maxie stated. "Then coach told me I got one
