ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – A tragic accident occurred on Wednesday in St. Petersburg, resulting in the death of a young child. The incident took place at approximately 3:53 PM on 49th Avenue North, just west of 80th Street North, according to an official report from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

The FHP report indicates that a Ford F450 driven by a 34-year-old man from Valrico was traveling eastbound along 49th Avenue North. A two-year-old child left a nearby residence without the parents’ knowledge and subsequently walked into the path of a truck. The vehicle then struck the child.

The child suffered fatal injuries as a result of the collision and was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash, troopers say.
