(Seguin) — Texas’s population continues to skyrocket, but new residents are not moving to the big cities. The latest numbers from the Texas Demographic Center show that the fastest growing areas are the suburbs.

That’s one of the reasons why parts of Guadalupe, Comal and Hays counties continue to grow at a rapid rate.

In fact, the New Braunfels and Seguin area is one of the fastest growing areas in the country.

Helen You at the Texas Demographic Center says that birth rates are declining and the population is getting older.

So, by the year 2060, migration will be the main source of growth in Texas.

The report did not factor in a sharp decline in illegal immigration under the Trump administration.
