Nick Lyerly (East Rowan)

BERMUDA RUN — Nick Lyerly (East Rowan, UNC Greensboro) and Davis Richards (South Rowan, NC State) are notable local golfers who now make their homes in the Myrtle Beach area.

Both sailed through the Pre-Qualifying State of PGA Q-School, but neither was able to get past Stage I of qualifying. They played at Bermuda Run recently.

Richards shot 74-74-75-70 — 293, while Lyerly shot 73-69-71-77 — 290.

Lyerly was tied for 55th, while Richards was 66th.

Former Catawba golfer Tanner Bibey shot 72-75-70-75 — 292.

The cut line to advance was 279. Only the top 19 and ties moved on to the next stage.
