Blue Jays rookie Trey Yesavage took the mound in a high-pressure environment in Game 5 of the World Series . He delivered.
In seven innings of work, the 22-year-old right-handed pitcher had 12 strikeouts, gave up just three hits and issued no walks. Yesavage broke an MLB record for most strikeouts in a World Series game by a rookie and became just the 12th pitcher in major-league history to strike out 12 or more batters in a World Series game.
The records didn’t stop there. With his performance on Wednesday night, Yesavage also set the record for most strikeouts in an MLB post-season by a rookie with 39.
