HONOKAA (HawaiiNewsNow) - A large mural at a Hawaii Island high school aims to prevent traffic deaths.
Students and staff created a massive “Drive with Aloha” mural at Honokaa High and Intermediate School.
It was led by the Keep it Flowing media company in a statewide effort to end impaired driving in collaboration with the Hawaii Department of Transportation, the Drug Free Coalition of Hawaii, Hawaii Partnership to Prevent Underage Drinking, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, and Safe Ride Hawaii.
On Tuesday, the school held an assembly where teachers shared their own stories of losing loved ones to impaired driving.
“It was pretty amazing to see all 700 students, silent, attentive, listening to the message that all of us shared basically, especially for youth,” said assistant principal M
