The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday seized over Rs 1.20 crore as part of its ongoing search operations in connection with the West Bengal municipal recruitment scam, an official said.

The investigators, who began the raid on Tuesday, at the residence of a businessman in Taratala area in south Kolkata , seized a huge amount of unaccounted money, he added.

According to officials, the counting process is underway and the final recovered amount may increase.

“We started the raid yesterday in connection with the municipal recruitment scam. We have seized a huge amount of cash. The counting is on,” the official told news agency PTI.
