For completion of the park entry and trail project at Conservation Park, with work to take place next year, the Pere Marquette Charter Township board approved a Michigan Natural Resources Development Project agreement during Tuesday’s board meeting.
The Michigan DNR would be to appropriate grant funds of 48 percent, $400,000 with a local match of $435,000 (52 percent) from the township, for completion of the anticipated $835,000 project.
Township Supervisor Kelly Smith said once approved, construction should take place next year.
“It’s not as in depth of a project in some regards as compared to the new access park, but still, there’s some things like the trail going up the hill and some other things that will require extensive work,” he said.
