A crowded room of Grand Junction residents were on hand Tuesday evening at the Mesa County Libraries Central Branch to ask questions of the City Council, which held its first town hall event as part of its “Meet You There” initiative.
The new City Council, which had four members elected last April, has sought to engage with the community in different ways than the typical public comment period held during its regular public meetings.
While individual council members have utilized different ways to connect with constituents, like regular coffee meetings, “Meet You There” is a city-led effort to increase public engagement and offer opportunities at different times and places for people to connect with the council and city staff, according to the city website.
