SRINAGAR : The Speaker of the Jammu Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Thursday allowed a special discussion on the recent floods in Jammu division, despite earlier rejecting an adjournment motion on the issue, citing procedural rules. Follow Us On G -N e w s | Whatsapp

Clarifying his decision, the Speaker said the rules did not permit the same adjournment motion to be entertained twice during one session. “It is not wrong that we did not allow the discussion on flood victims earlier. The rules are clear — once we reject an adjournment motion, it cannot be taken up again in the same session,” he stated.

However, acknowledging the humanitarian importance of the matter, the Speaker announced that the House would hold a special discussion “without setting any precedent.
