Moscow: Russia has announced the successful test of its nuclear-powered underwater drone, Poseidon, marking a major milestone in the country’s strategic weapons program. President Vladimir Putin confirmed that the test included activation of the drone’s nuclear propulsion system, which allows it to travel vast distances underwater without surfacing.

The Poseidon, also known by its earlier code name “Status-6,” is designed to operate as an autonomous underwater vehicle capable of carrying a nuclear warhead. According to Russian defense officials, the drone can travel at very high speeds and dive to extreme depths, making it difficult to detect or intercept.
