Assam is set to embark on a landmark initiative in demographic mapping with the launch of India’s first fully digital census drive. The initiative, scheduled from November 10 to 30, will roll out in select areas of Dibrugarh, West Karbi Anglong, and Hailakandi, positioning the state at the forefront of a nationwide digital transformation in data collection.

Ahead of the main field operation, a pre-test for self-enumeration will be conducted from November 1 to 7. During this phase, residents in the chosen areas will be able to enter their household information online through a dedicated portal. The pre-test will primarily focus on house-listing and housing census tasks.
