Cricket Australia boss Todd Greenberg says the governing body can’t “sit still” as surging salaries for franchise cricket emerge with a looming call on BBL privatisation which could change the game forever.
Greenberg and CA chair Mike Baird were peppered with questions at annual general meeting in Melbourne on Thursday after confirmation of an $11.3 million loss over the past financial year , significantly less than the $30m deficit the previous year.
While touting the potential for a record year coming with eigh white-ball matches against India and a five-match Ashes series, Baird also declared privatisation of the Big Bash, by selling off the eight franchises, and the potentially huge cash injection, remained a serious consideration.
