Two commemorative postage stamps honoring Muhammad Ali are expected to be issued by the U.S. Postal Service beginning in 2026, officials with the Muhammad Ali Center in Louisville said in an Oct. 29 news release.

The announcement comes three years after Ali Center and city officials launched a campaign using social media buzz and merchandise sales to drum up support for a stamp depicting "The Greatest." Ali, a Louisville native who achieved global fame because of his championship boxing career and social activism work, died in 2016 at the age of 74.

Each stamp designed by USPS art director Antonio Alcalá features a 1974 Associated Press photograph showing Ali in his signature boxing stance, though the picture is used differently in the two designs.
