The demand by Karen Read’s attorney for an investigation into Boston Police Commissioner Michael Cox puts a harsh spotlight on Cox’s weak leadership, including a lack of transparency and urgency.
When he was appointed by Mayor Michelle Wu in 2022, Cox vowed to improve the relationship between police and the public and restore transparency, but his record falls far short of that promise.
Cox instead has become a liability for Wu, despite her glowing remarks when she appointed him.
