KOZHIKODE: The locals stepped forward soon after the high court awarded imprisonment to father of six-year-old Adithi and her stepmother. The girl was subjected to brutal torture. The locals said the postmortem report had mentioned that the girl did not have food for days. They said they are happy with the high court verdict. They said the accused should never be released and raised suspicion on the death of her mother.

The court awarded life imprisonment to Subramanian Namboothiri and Ramla Beegum alias Devika Antharjanam, father and stepmother of six-year-old Adithi S Namboothiri in Kozhikode, who died after brutal torture.
