LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) - After a chilly start to Thursday, sunshine will help temperatures warm quickly through the afternoon hours. Most of the area will reach the upper 60s with a pleasant breeze out of the north. Tonight, temperatures drop into the mid 40s under clear skies. Friday will see another round of nice weather. For trick-or-treating, temperatures will drop into the 50s with clear conditions.
Melissa remains a powerful Category 2 hurricane as it leaves the Bahamas. It will have an opportunity to strengthen through the day today, potentially reaching major status prior to affecting Bermuda Friday. From there, it will weaken as it heads into open Atlantic waters.
Our next rain chance comes Saturday evening and overnight as a quick-moving system passes through the area. Generally
