PFLUGERVILLE, Texas — Police want families to stay vigilant in the coming months, as they say Halloween, the holiday season and longer nights mean home burglaries are more likely to happen.
With more than 41 million children expected to trick-or-treat nationwide this year, law enforcement says longer nights -and distracted households- can create the perfect opportunity for crime.
Pflugerville police have reported 36 home burglaries so far in 2025 as of Oct. 28, compared to 31 home burglaries in all of 2024.
They say there is often a notable uptick in incidents as evening darkness arrives earlier following the end of daylight saving time. That's why police say now is the time for residents to review and reinforce their home security.
