Airport checkpoint shock as loaded weapon found in passenger’s bag

Pittsburgh, PA – A 51-year-old Latrobe man is facing a criminal charge after Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers discovered a firearm in his carry-on bag at the main security checkpoint at Pittsburgh International Airport late Wednesday morning.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:44 a.m. on October 29 when TSA officers spotted the weapon during routine screening and alerted the Allegheny County Police Department. Officers responded to the checkpoint and identified the passenger as John Frye.

Authorities say Frye did not possess a valid concealed carry permit. He has been charged with one misdemeanor count of carrying a firearm without a license. The Federal Burea
