BUCKHEAD, Ga. — A son is dead, and the father was arrested after an argument turned into a shooting in the parking lot of an apartment complex late Wednesday night, according to the Atlanta Police Department.

According to police, the son and his girlfriend were in the middle of a dispute inside one of the apartments off Pharr Road when the woman called his father to come over to help de-escalate the fight.

Atlanta Police officers were also called to the scene at around 12:22 a.m. and were speaking with the woman when the father arrived and left with his son.

Officers said they heard gunshots in the parking lot as they were speaking with the woman and ran out to find the son with an apparent gunshot wound. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.
