WASHINGTON —
President Donald Trump's nominee for surgeon general, Dr. Casey Means , is set to testify on Capitol Hill Thursday, facing scrutiny over her inactive medical license and social media endorsements.
Means, a wellness influencer , is Trump's second choice for the position after his initial nominee withdrew. She has a significant following and partnerships on social media but does not hold an active medical license.
Means, 38, earned her medical degree from Stanford University but dropped out of her residency program in 2018, which is why her license to practice is inactive.
She has criticized scientists, medical schools, and regulators for taking money from the food and pharmaceutical industries. Means also has close ties to Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F.
