COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. —
A South Carolina woman was shot while she was driving and authorities are calling this a possible case of mistaken identity.
The Colleton County Sheriff's Office said the woman was shot around 5 a.m. Thursday in the 500 block of Quail Drive.

The Colleton County Fire Rescue team said when deputies arrived they applied tourniquets to her legs to control the bleeding. EMS arrived and took the woman to the trauma center at Trident Hospital in North Charleston.

Authorities say the preliminary investigation shows the woman was driving toward Walterboro when she was shot.
At this time, investigators believe this is a case of mistaken identity and the victim was not the intended target.
