COLUMBUS, Ohio — As construction along Westerville Road on the northeast side continues, officials with the Vision Zero initiative are reminding parents and drivers to be mindful while trick-or-treating.
"It's starting to get darker earlier, so conditions are changing. Plus...there is a lot of new activity out on the roadway," said Katherine Swidarski, coordinator for Vision Zero in Columbus.
Paying attention has never been more important, with many road projects underway across Columbus. Three years ago, 4-year-old Catherine Rodriguez was hit and killed by a car while trick-or-treating at Westerville Road and Valley Park Avenue. This is a spot residents have repeatedly voiced concerns about.
