Hurricane Melissa's death toll is increasing as the storm continues across the Atlantic Ocean after devastating countries like Jamaica, Haiti and Cuba

The storm hit Jamaica as a Category 5, weakening to a Category 3 before impacting Cuba on Oct. 29; it is now a Category 2 storm

The death toll has been increased to 34, with 10 of the confirmed casualties being children

At least 34 people are reported to have died, including 10 children, as Hurricane Melissa continues to devastate countries across the Caribbean .

So far, the confirmed casualties spanned from Jamaica, Haiti, the Dominican Republic and Cuba, Sky News and the U.K. newspaper the Independent reported. One death has been confirmed in the Dominican Republic, eight in Jamaica and 25 in Haiti.
