To the Editor:

I am a lifelong Republican, but this year I am proud to cross party lines and endorse my friend, Karen Hosking, for the Board of Education. I was honored when Karen asked me to share my endorsement, because I have seen firsthand the kind of leader she is.

As someone who has even considered running for local office myself, I take very seriously the qualities we should expect from our elected officials. Karen embodies those qualities: integrity, independence, and an unwavering commitment to putting kids first.

Karen currently serves as Vice Chair of the Board of Education. She is running as an Independent because her own party withdrew support, not due to her ability or record, but because she refused to put politics ahead of what is best for our students. She has proven sh
