MONROE, La. (KNOE) - With Halloween just around the corner, Acadian Ambulance is reminding families to stay safe while trick-or-treating. Paramedics say visibility is key when walking through neighborhoods after dark.
Officials recommend adding reflective tape to costumes and treat bags to help drivers spot children more easily. Flashlights and glow sticks are also encouraged to increase visibility.
Families should stick to sidewalks and crosswalks, avoid cutting through yards, and make eye contact with drivers before crossing the street. Children under 12 should be accompanied by an adult, while older kids are urged to stay in groups and avoid distractions like phones or earbuds.
“It is the time of year where we do have the most accidents when it comes to auto versus pedestrian,” said
