A poll released Thursday handed New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani a wide lead over his closest rival, suggesting the Big Apple is inching ever closer to electing its first-ever socialist mayor next week.

Mamdani holds a 16-point lead over former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who is running as an independent, according to the Marist survey .
