Tradition will meet innovation when the Canning Show returns this weekend for its 116th year.

It has been run by not-for-profit group the Canning Agricultural, Horticultural and Recreational Society since 1909.

CAHRS president Maxine Wylie said organisers wanted to provide fun and free activities for showgoers, as well as show families from urban areas where their food and fibre came from.

“The show is an opportunity to visually excite and capture the attention of an audience looking for intense pleasure, wholesome and amusing entertainment alongside their family or friends on a great day out,” she said.

“It’s important to give patrons an event that they can choose to enjoy without costing a fortune.”
