A Norwood father and son won $800,000 on Friday, Oct. 24, after they purchased eight lottery tickets with some very sentimental numbers.
Eugene Girard and his son, Matthew, won their prizes in the Massachusetts State Lottery's midday Mass Cash drawing.
Eugene Girard purchased eight tickets with the same five numbers, matching those selected in the drawing, resulting in eight $100,000 prizes won. He claimed $700,000 (before taxes) in prizes himself and gave the eighth ticket to his son for him to claim a $100,000 prize (before taxes).
