BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - A woman that was wounded in an officer-involved shooting in Birmingham has died.
Her name has not yet been released.
According to Birmingham Police Chief Michael Pickett, just after 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 29, East Precinct officers responded to a call in the 600 block of Brunson Avenue in the Zion City community.
Police say the call said an altercation was happening at one of the homes and involved a person who was violent and “possibly involved weapons.”
Pickett says when officers arrived, shots were fired and one person was hit. No officers were injured.
The woman was taken to UAB Hospital where she later died.
The Alabama Law Enforcement State Bureau of Investigation is taking over the investigation. At this time, no more details are available.
