Costs for Oregon residential customers of NW Natural will go up 5.4% or $4.38 on average starting Oct. 31 under the rate approved by the Public Utilities Commission on Oct. 28.

That likely will be the last rate increase for NW Natural customers for three years. That is because of a law passed by the state Legislature in 2025 that prevents the utility from increasing rates every year.

In the past few years, NW Natural has increased rates 4.7% (2024), reduced rates in 2023 and increased rates 14.4% in 2022.

Rates will go up Oct. 31 by 4.7% for commercial customers, which is an average bill increase of $15.89. It also will go up by 3% for industrial customers, which is an average increase of $40.97.
