A pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries when she was struck by a vehicle in Manchester on Wednesday evening.

The crash occurred in the area of 288 Center St. around 6:47 p.m. when officers responded to the report of a crash involving a pedestrian, according to Sgt. Michael Williams of the Manchester Police Department .

A preliminary investigation found that a 77-year-old Manchester man was driving west on Center Street when he struck a 32-year-old Manchester woman, Williams said. The woman’s injuries were described as life-threatening. She was taken to Hartford Hospital where her condition was not immediately clear.

The driver remained at the scene and has been “cooperating fully with investigators,” Williams said.
