Hundreds of shoppers lined up early Thursday morning ahead of Costco’s opening in Silver Spring Township.

A ribbon cutting was held at 7:30 a.m. at the store at 6719 Carlisle Pike.

The Seattle-based warehouse club rolled out exclusive specials, including a $59.99 eight-pack of mini tins of Pokémon cards that sold out immediately.

Built across the Carlisle Pike from Cumberland Valley High School, the Costco has one of the largest footprints in the region.

At 161,163 square feet, it is 7,000 square feet larger than its sister store on Jonestown Road in Lower Paxton Township.

It took about 18 months to construct the store. Amenities include gas pumps, a tire center, a food court, meat and produce departments, a bakery, pharmacy and an optical center.
