A repeat offender who subjected a former friend to a brutal Edinburgh attempted murder bid had fallen out with him over “a woman”, a court has heard.
Patrick Moohan, 48, plunged a knife into John Dunlop’s chest during an assault on April 14 2025 on the street at London Road in Leith.
The high court heard on Thursday how Moohan left Mr Dunlop fighting for his life after the attack - the victim needed emergency surgery.
The story emerged after Moohan pleaded guilty to a charge of attempted murder before judge Lord Arthurson.
On Thursday, prosecutor David Dickson KC told the judge about the attack leading up to the circumstances.
He said that at about 5pm on April 13 2025, Mr Dunlop visited his neighbour William Jennings at his flat nearby.
