Marco Andretti's racing career has come to an end. On Wednesday, Andretti announced on social media that he would be retiring from motor racing after a 20-year career. The 38-year-old driver most notably competed in 253 NTT IndyCar Series races and won two races.
Andretti's first IndyCar win came with Andretti Green Racing at Sonoma Raceway in his debut season, but he never won an Indianapolis 500. The former Andretti Global driver's best finish in the Indianapolis 500 was second-place in 2006 after being passed by Sam Hornish Jr.
At the end of his career, Andretti wasn't full-time in the IndyCar Series, as he raced at several different levels, including NASCAR. While Andretti never captured the Indianapolis 500, he can happily retire after a strong 20-year career that featured several victories.
