The traditional media focus in the New York City Marathon is on the winners — those who can get from Staten Island to Central Park the fastest.
But filmmaker Nicolas Heller, known for “New York Nico,” has been fascinated with the rest of the marathon field.
Heller’s new short documentary, “26.2,” follows four runners in the 2024 New York City Marathon, including a breast cancer survivor, a stroke survivor and the marathon’s official final finisher.
One of those runners is Johnny Pye, a stroke survivor who turned to running during one of the hardest times in his life.
