The Montreal Fire Department (SIM) were putting out a small fire at an encampment in the Plateau-Mont-Royal borough on Thursday morning.

The SIM said they responded to a call at around 9:06 a.m. regarding trash set on fire in the encampment at the corner of de Lorimier Avenue and Saint-Joseph Blvd.

Montreal police told CityNews that the incident was not criminal in nature.

No injures were reported, and the SIM explained that there was no risk that the flames spread.
