Federal prosecutors have brought serious charges against Kat Abughazaleh, a Democratic congressional candidate, along with five others, for their involvement in protests at an immigration facility. According to Block Club Chicago , which first reported the unsealing of the indictment, the charges include conspiracy to impede federal officers related to a Friday, Sept. 26 demonstration outside the Broadview ICE facility.

The six individuals accused are Abughazaleh, along with Michael Rabbitt, Andre Martin, Catherine Sharp, Brian Straw, and Joselyn Walsh. Block Club Chicago reports that Sharp currently works as chief of staff for Alderman Andre Vasquez and is running for Cook County board, while Rabbitt serves as a 45th Ward Democratic committeeperson.
