GILA, New Mexico — Maria Riva, actress, author and the only child of screen icon Marlene Dietrich, died Wednesday at her son’s home in Gila, New Mexico, at age 100, according to The Hollywood Reporter .
Her son, Peter Riva, confirmed she died in her sleep but did not release a cause of death, the media outlet added.
Born Maria Elisabeth Sieber in Berlin on Dec. 13, 1924, she moved to the U.S. with her mother and spent much of her life entwined with Hollywood’s golden era, The Washington Post said .
At a young age, she appeared as Catherine II in the film “The Scarlet Empress” alongside her mother. She trained at the Max Reinhardt Academy and performed for Allied troops through the USO in Europe during World War II.
