Israel’s military says Palestinian militants handed over two coffins containing the remains of dead hostages to the Red Cross in the Gaza Strip on Thursday.

Two Red Cross vehicles were seen east of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza, driving away to reportedly deliver the remains to the military.

The latest surrender follows the return of the remains of 15 hostages since a fragile ceasefire between Hamas and Israel began.

Thirteen more are still to be recovered.

The handover came despite Israeli strikes on Gaza overnight, in which at least 40 people were injured.

The ceasefire, which began October 10, aims to end the conflict between Israel and Hamas.
