SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A unique cycling event organized by the Wounded Warrior Project is happening across San Diego. It’s called the Soldier Ride.
For more than 20 years, the Wounded Warrior Project has helped to empower injured veterans through shared physical activities and camaraderie.
A group of about 40 veterans from California, Texas and Alabama took off from Oceanside Harbor Beach early Thursday morning. They will embark on a bike ride across San Diego, totaling 31 miles over two days.
These veterans have experienced different types of physical injuries. Some of them are working on strengthening their mental health, while others merely miss the camaraderie of serving in the military.
