Minneapolis Police are investigating after a man was shot and killed after confronting a car burglar early Thursday morning.
At a press conference, Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara called the incident "tragic," adding the murder happened right outside the victim’s workplace.
Around 7 a.m., Minneapolis Police were called to a parking lot in an industrial area near East 26th Street and 32nd Avenue South in the city’s Seward neighborhood.
When they arrived, they found a man in his 40s on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite lifesaving measures, the victim died at the scene.
Police believe about a half an hour earlier, the victim confronted a man trying to break into a vehicle in the parking lot.
There was a brief struggle, and at some point, the victim was shot. Approx
