One prominent Democrat vying for a seat in the U.S. Senate made his pitch to El Paso voters.

State Rep. James Talarico, D-Austin, appeared before a packed house at El Paso's Firefighters Hall Wednesday, Oct. 29, bringing his message to the Borderland for the first time ahead of the March 2026 primary.

Talarico, a rising star among Texas Democrats, will have to topple former U.S. Rep. Colin Allred before heading to the November 2026 General Election to take on incumbent U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, R-TX.

Among those who turned out to introduce the U.S. Senate hopeful to Sun City Democrats was city Rep. Art Fierro, who worked alongside Talarico during his tenure in the Texas House of Representatives and remembered him as an eloquent and hard-working man of the people.
