MARQUETTE — Michigan State Police have announced a new commander for their Eighth District which covers the entire Upper Peninsula.
Captain Christopher Gerard took on the new role on October 26th.
Captain Gerard graduated from Baraga High School and earned his degree in criminal justice from Lake Superior State University and a master’s degree Northern Michigan University.
His law enforcement career began in 2003 and included stops around the state before he joined MSP in 2010.
Captain Gerard said in a statement:
“I want the Eighth District to be recognized as the best MSP district to work, live, and raise a family in the state. I was born and raised in the Upper Peninsula and have great pride in the Eighth District. I have worked as a trooper, sergeant, and post commander in nine of
