A Morris County teacher charged with alleged inappropriate conduct with a former student waived her right to a detention hearing and will remain in jail pending her next court appearance.
Lorri Ann Willis, 45, of Hackettstown, made the decision after speaking with her attorney, Ronald Ricci, by phone from the Morris County Correctional Facility, Ricci said during a virtual hearing Oct. 30. Her next court date is a pre-indictment conference before Judge Robert Hanna scheduled for Dec. 1.
The agreement means Willis will be detained pending a trial, said Superior Court Judge Janine Allen. The state must secure an indictment no later than 90 days from when she was lodged in jail, and the case must be brought to trial within 180 days of the indictment.
