The Day of the Jackal was a big streaming hit for Peacock, and now another of author Frederick Forsyth’s bestselling conspiracy thriller books is getting a TV adaptation.
Zero Gravity and Romulus Films are teaming up for The Odessa File , based on Forsyth’s 1972 novel about a reporter trying to track down a former SS concentration-camp commandant (via Deadline ). Simon Fellows is writing the script.
The Odessa File was first adapted by Romulus into a feature film back in 1974 , but Fellows says his version is not a remake. His fresh take on the material will be a genre-bending tale combining elements of “ period, conspiracy, thriller, action, and a touch of the revenge Western .”
Fellows describes the story as a “ 1960s autobahn-fueled road movie to catch a monster .”
