After an hourlong stand-off in rural Lincoln County, a former Beresford man was arrested Oct. 29 for armed kidnapping and aggravated assault.
Public information officer Aaron Benson said the dispute began Oct. 28 when a friend of the female victim called the Sioux Falls Police Department to report an assault.
According to court documents, the victim, 49, later explained to authorities that Nicholas Sletten had been staying at the Sioux Falls residence of her and her husband for nine weeks when he allegedly pointed a handgun at her while she was “doing laundry.”
The victim told police officers that Sletten, 46, had been “extremely paranoid, believing he was being tracked and people were out to get him,” court documents say. When Sletten held the gun to the victim, he reportedly said that
