Several law enforcement officers in the Mississippi Delta have been arrested following a major drug-related investigation led by the FBI.

Officials confirmed to SuperTalk Mississippi News that sheriffs from the Delta counties of Washington and Humphreys, along with a high-ranking member of the Sunflower County Sheriff’s Office, and several police officers, have been handcuffed for their alleged roles in a drug conspiracy case.

While details remain slim, we do know that the officers are facing corruption-related charges, though the specifics of the charges were not made available immediately. More information is expected to be released Thursday at 4 p.m. when officials with the FBI gather at the U.S. Attorney’s office in Oxford to hold a press conference on the investigation.
