NEW YORK (PIX11) -- Ground stops have been issued at multiple tri-state area airports, along with extensive delays as a result of weather on Thursday, the FAA announced.
Ground stops at LaGuardia Airport, John F. Kennedy Airport, and Newark Liberty International Airport were expected to last until at least 2:45 p.m., the FAA's website said.
Departure delays were up to 45 minutes at JFK, two and a half hours at Newark, and an hour and a half at LaGuardia.
A storm system was expected to move through the area, bringing soaking rain and gusty winds to the region, according to PIX11 meteorologists.
